Fast Hippy thank you card

I made this card very quickly as a thank you to a male friend who did us a small favour. The lady on the front was taken from a calender I picked up with 70's photo's in it.
Flowers and the rest made from paper scraps.

Holgraphic card

I tend to buy up on eBay, other peoples craft clear-outs. One batch I received ages ago contained a load of holographic card. Personally I find it a bit gaudy, but also way too interesting to cover it up either. So for several months now its just been sitting in my card collection. I really have no idea what inspired me to use it for my brothers birthday card. It just popped into my head.

In fact I enjoyed using the holo card so much, I am thinking of using it in other ways. Whether the photos show it or not it actually looks quite awesome under electric light. I am hoping that if he displays it, when he is walking past it, it will catch his eye because it really does shimmer and move.

For the back, I ended up using dies and punches. I also made an envelope...and I did not use wallpaper this time! lol.

I actually finished this card before I went into hospital, but did not have time to photograph it. I photographed it under my daylight craft lamp to try and bring out the colours and give a true-er impression of the actual holographic effect.

Dartboard Cabinet Card. Gatefold

I think this has to be the simplest card I have made to date, it certainly seemed easy to do.
My friend is big fan of Darts, won a few trophies himself. Therefore as it is his birthday this week I thought I'd make a Dartboard cabinet card.
The cabinet itself is covered, both sides, in wallpaper. The hinges are flourishes which I got cheap from Maya road (eBay), cut them down, inked them in gold and walnut stain. The 'handles' are metal buttons which I filed off the shanks at the backs with my handy Dremel tool. After that, just a case of sticking padded tape into the backs.

I made the dartboard in photoshop, changed all the wire numbers so it reads 'Happy Birthday Symon 44' (that's his age), added his birth-date at the top to match the 'Champion' lettering.
To get the angle of the darts, which happen to be: 1 in where 19 should be, and 2 in the number 6 = 1966...smart eh? I wonder if he will suss that?
So I took a photograph of an actual dartboard with the darts in those places, printed them off and cut them out onto chipboard. The flights have a bit of foam behind them to give some dimension, whilst the tips are glued straight onto the board..

Chalk boards made from matt black paper, written on with a white oil pastel crayon.
And that as they say is that.
By the way, the front of the envelope is a photo of Phil Taylor, THE top English Darts player in PDC, I know Symon is a huge fan of his. I distorted the banner he is holding in Photoshop, then glued it into Phils Hands.

Leather corset gatefold card

G'day Bloggerettes, thanks for popping in to see my latest card which is a sexy one! Ever since I started making cards back in Dec 09, I knew I wanted to make this card for my Male friend whose Birthday it is next week. He is one of those chaps who just loves dressing up, any excuse, fancy dress, whatever. I do know though that he likes clothes bordering on 'fetish' so what a great opportunity to create something like this Corset card, and it was such fun to make.

Leather, Lace, studs, net and ribbon, all the cliché bits and pieces. The back of the card is glossy card stock, a bit difficult to photograph. I made an envelope with a collage of cut out pictures stuck on the outside and the inside. Anyway, I hope you like it too.

When he gets this card he is going to have to undo the lace at the front to get to the inside, just like for real really :o)

I have designed the envelope so that his address will be inserted into the leather clad Gloved hand as if the hand is holding an address card.
There's loads of photos of this card, so if you want to see the others, I have uploaded them onto the 'Mens' card page.

Above is the inside of the envelope, and yes he is into snakes too (take all sorts eh?), theres another snake on the back of the envelope too.

Another get well...book/album this time

Well, here we are, another first attempt at making an album or book, whichever it is classed as. Also my first attempt at stamping having purchased several used stamps, which in this case I used on the front of the envelope. Actually, this card is for the same neighbour, the man I made the 70th card for last week! So he's not doing bad, 2 cards in less than a week.
Anyway, he has just had some minor but important surgery, so an ideal opportunity to make another card! The theme as such is to encourage a very active man to sit still for a month, which he has to do, and which he is going to find very difficult! (Is he not Evelyne????) So it seems that  this card has ended up being rather humourous in content.
Really he is a 'Dog' lover hence the picture on the front. However no other animals have perfected relaxing like cats, thus pictures of cats in various relaxed positions. The overall message to him is:  "look at the pictures of how the grand masters of the art of relaxation do it and learn from them"
All the pages inside can be seen on the 'various' page plus the stamped envelope

New Card made from wallpaper

At long last I have managed to get hold of some wallpaper sample books. In fact, a local French guy got them for me, he went out of his way for no reason than that he could.
So I made him this card entirely from one of the wallpaper patterns as a thank you.
I've made a matching envelope which I will upload tomorrow

Today, buttons done but no visits

I feel a bit alone as no-one has visited my blog yet, another thing to look into: How to increase 'traffic'
Despite this, I have today managed to get all the new 'buttons' up and working, which I am really pleased about. I still have loads of cards to upload yet, and more cards to photograph that I've made this week. Its all go!

I did manage to get round uploading the (at the momeent) the last card for a mans brithday which I made February 2010. Details on the Cards for Men Page

New Page: Cards for Men

I have tonight begun to upload photos of cards I have made for men, for various occasions. They are now located on a new page called "Cards for men"

I have placed all the Synthesizer, Get well, Valentines, Goth and Amur Leopard photos on this one page. I still have a few more other Cards to put on yet...maybe tomorrow.

Its rather a long page, and I dont like to see blogs that are miles long, they take forever to load. Thus I have to try and figure out how to split them up without using up the allotted 10 pages. I have not even started to load all the Female and Christmas cards yet. I also want to make another page for cards made for 'couples',  and another with the watercolour paintings I have done, making 5 pages earmarked already.

If Anyone knows how I can get rid of the massive gaps between the photos on the Mens Cards page, I would be extremely grateful if you'd let me know how, I've tried loads of things, and its driving me crazy, I hate the waste of space!

Anyway, all the photos I have of these cards have been uploaded tonight to the Mens cards page:
