Fast Hippy thank you card

I made this card very quickly as a thank you to a male friend who did us a small favour. The lady on the front was taken from a calender I picked up with 70's photo's in it.
Flowers and the rest made from paper scraps.

Holgraphic card

I tend to buy up on eBay, other peoples craft clear-outs. One batch I received ages ago contained a load of holographic card. Personally I find it a bit gaudy, but also way too interesting to cover it up either. So for several months now its just been sitting in my card collection. I really have no idea what inspired me to use it for my brothers birthday card. It just popped into my head. 


In fact I enjoyed using the holo card so much, I am thinking of using it in other ways. Whether the photos show it or not it actually looks quite awesome under electric light. I am hoping that if he displays it, when he is walking past it, it will catch his eye because it really does shimmer and move.


For the back, I ended up using dies and punches. I also made an envelope...and I did not use wallpaper this time! lol.


I actually finished this card before I went into hospital, but did not have time to photograph it. I photographed it under my daylight craft lamp to try and bring out the colours and give a true-er impression of the actual holographic effect.

Dartboard Cabinet Card. Gatefold

I think this has to be the simplest card I have made to date, it certainly seemed easy to do.
My friend is big fan of Darts, won a few trophies himself. Therefore as it is his birthday this week I thought I'd make a Dartboard cabinet card.
The cabinet itself is covered, both sides, in wallpaper. The hinges are flourishes which I got cheap from Maya road (eBay), cut them down, inked them in gold and walnut stain. The 'handles' are metal buttons which I filed off the shanks at the backs with my handy Dremel tool. After that, just a case of sticking padded tape into the backs.

I made the dartboard in photoshop, changed all the wire numbers so it reads 'Happy Birthday Symon 44' (that's his age), added his birth-date at the top to match the 'Champion' lettering.
To get the angle of the darts, which happen to be: 1 in where 19 should be, and 2 in the number 6 = 1966...smart eh? I wonder if he will suss that?
So I took a photograph of an actual dartboard with the darts in those places, printed them off and cut them out onto chipboard. The flights have a bit of foam behind them to give some dimension, whilst the tips are glued straight onto the board..

By the way, the front of the envelope is a photo of Phil Taylor, THE top English Darts player in PDC, I know Symon is a huge fan of his. I distorted the banner he is holding in Photoshop, then glued it into Phils Hands.

Leather corset gatefold card

G'day Bloggerettes, thanks for popping in to see my latest card which is a sexy one! Ever since I started making cards back in Dec 09, I knew I wanted to make this card for my Male friend whose Birthday it is next week. He is one of those chaps who just loves dressing up, any excuse, fancy dress, whatever. I do know though that he likes clothes bordering on 'fetish' so what a great opportunity to create something like this Corset card, and it was such fun to make.

Leather, Lace, studs, net and ribbon, all the cliché bits and pieces. The back of the card is glossy card stock, a bit difficult to photograph. I made an envelope with a collage of cut out pictures stuck on the outside and the inside. Anyway, I hope you like it too.


When he gets this card he is going to have to undo the lace at the front to get to the inside, just like for real really :o)

I have designed the envelope so that his address will be inserted into the leather clad Gloved hand as if the hand is holding an address card.

Above is the inside of the envelope, and yes he is into snakes too (take all sorts eh?), theres another snake on the back of the envelope too.

70th French birthday card completed

Good afternoon/morning/evening depending upon your location. I hope you are having a great time???
Today I finished a card for a neighbours Husband for whom I do odd jobs for. Its his 70th on the 25th.
With this card I have aimed towards not just 70, but anything french to do with the year 1940.
Not wanting to do an ordinary straight shaped card, I opted for this style,  which I dont know what its called,  anyone know?
The 'backing' papers of burgundy and blue are wallpaper. The calender on the right is from 1940, I'm going to put a red circle round his birthday date, I must remember to do that!  I added chipboard shapes and letters, numbers, I love flourishes, they are so universal.


Of course, the stamps are 1940's french ones and the papers behind '1940', '70' and Bon Anniversaire are 1940's french franc notes. What was left over I used for the flowers.
The reciept in the middle, I found on the net, is from 1940 for goods bought in our nearest city. The 2 flowers are a mish mash of 2 styles that I found in a tutorial. I will add the links to the links column when I can find them again. I really like the spikey additions at the back of them. Takes a long time to make them though.


It may seem as if the envelope is on the rather large size, and indeed it is as this card when folded down is a very odd shape. In fact, the whole card will not stand up, I had to add flaps at the back of both the tall squares, I think they are called easels???

Editing my blog

I have now placed my cards on new pages, one for cards made for men and another for cards I've made for Females. I hope this will make life a little easier.
I've only had this blog a since March 15th and I am still trying to make alterations to the layout..manually. So please bear with me while this blog shifts and changes...I am no expert!

The photos of the cards I have made are rather large, so I need to resize them down a little so everyone can see the whole card and not just part of it without scrolling.

I'll get there :o)

Get well soon for Pete

This Card was made for an 'old friend of mine who is an engineering teacher and has been on long term sick, hence the theme.
I ripped up a cardboard box, printed off a load of bits and pieces from my PC and added a few real washers and nuts here and there. I also made a matching envelope.

Pop up synthesiser for Rich

This pop up synthesizer card was only the 3rd card I have ever made. Everything was printed on my PC and glued on. Took a bit of working out getting the proportions correct to the eye. It was made as a birthday card for my friend Rich, he plays various music instruments in a heavy metal band.

For the 'front' of the card and the back, used alot of my printer ink and in places it did not print very well, but I could not afford to try and print it out again. In fact the back was worse. So I just had to leave it as it was.

On the back I even glued on little plastic feet, which amused Rich greatly.

I did make a matching envelope, it was just plain matt black with the capricaorn logo on the back, the same one as I used on the 'lid'
