Still very busy! But I am hoping that tomorow I can sit down for a couple of hours and assemble the 25th Anniversary card, as I want to make a start on my next project which is a keepsake my French beighbour has asked me to make for her grandaughters baptism. I have alot of ideas for this, and a boxful of bits and pieces set aside for it.

Time warp;
I tell you what...I just do not know where the time goes. Everyday is such a mad rush, so much so that I have taken to running when going from room to room, trying to steal a few seconds here and there in the hope that I can build up a small bank of time use later in the day. 
It certainly does not seem like 24hrs since I posted yesterday.
But I suppose I got alot done, at least this morning, as I made 15 pots of Peach Jam, free peaches from a friends tree, plus I cut up and froze 12 green peppers from my greenhouse and did 3 lots of washing all before 12.30pm. Now I have to design some new labels in PS for the Jams, and design some flyers for Bob as he is selling a few large items. So, that will be this evening taken care of.

Vintage Angel & fairies (7) + a Poem

Hello, I hope you have all had a good weekend? The 25th Anniversary card I am making is coming along, got all the bits and pieces for it, just trying to get the layout right.
I opted to make an Oval card this time and used a Fiskars plastic oval template with a fiskars shape-cutter. Well what a useless piece of sh... that is! It wont cut decent paper, only very thin stuff, despite having it on the deepest setting. I would not recommend it to anyone. In the end, I taped the template to the paper/card and carefully used my craft knife which is becoming wobblier by the day lol.  It did the trick anyway. I should get the card finished tomorrow and then I can start on the envelope.....out with the good old wallpaper books!

Yes, it's OK, I checked with the Lady who has asked me to make this card, and she thinks it's brilliant! Thank goodness, they both have a sense of humour.

Lousy weather today, a definite touch of Autumn in the air. I've spent the day planning my next card for a 25th wedding anniversary. No decisions been made as yet, I keep vacillating between an Embossed card like the Clematis card I made (for the same lady actually, so maybe that idea is out after all), or dive in and do something with fabrics/mixed media. I cannot do my original idea, a kind of fold out album, because the lady I am making it for always frames cards she likes, so I have to go with something flat. 
This has thrown me out a little, I have to look into a one sided flat card. Hmmm.  Its to be a card from her to her Husband, so it needs to be fairly manly, yet to the point too.
Oh well, it'll come to me.

French Tat & freebies & lights

Today I popped into what is known here in France as a Depot Vente. Its what we would call a 'junk shop' in the UK, not sure what the term is for USA-ers??? Anyways, its all used items from pins up to furniture and farm machinery. People put their stuff in there to sell, and the owner of the Depot Vente takes a commission from the sale, or, he does house clearances. I love looking round them, as there are no charity shops in France :o(  Charity shops are the only things I really miss from the UK.
  Some of the stuff they sell is absolute trash, broken crockery, handles missing off things, rusty tools, beyond restoration etc etc. Often they want ridiculous money for things you and I would chuck in the bin.


But, for what I was looking for, tiny items for using craft wise.... dirt cheap. So I thought you might like to see what I picked up today for just 10 euros (£7.50 or $8.00) I have a project in mind that involves mixed media, and it is NOT going to be a card!  As well as what you'll see in the photos, there was also a big bag of beads and sequins. You've all seen beads and sequins before so, no point in photographing them. In any case, there was nothing out of the ordinary in them. 
I had a super time rummaging around in piles of stacked up tat poking around and investigating the contents of tiny dust clad vintage tins and little boxes,  getting grubby in the process!.


Before you look at what I bought, I just HAVE to tell you this first: Its unbelievable, but absolutely true:
There were some tiny vintage glass bottles, one of the things I was looking for. I didn't buy any because there were loads of them, I can buy them when I need them. BUT, I found this little vintage bottle: The label read: "Purified Mercury" , and inside the bottle???? yup, the mercury was still in there. No I did not buy it. I could hardly believe mes yeux!


Everything in the photos I bought including the 2 types of Hessian/ tapestry fabric that everything is laid out on. The burgundy fabric thingy top right is a hand made sewing kit holder made from felt. I only bought it because there were a good selection of sewing needles in it, I have broken some of mine recently.

The plastic shapes, lower left, horrible colours, IMO,  but I thought maybe I could paint them in gold, silver, copper or bronze. Just a 4 shown, there were quite a few of them.

 The eyelet 'hooks' ( I dont know what they are called) are huge, about 1 1/2 "  or 3.5cms long. I've never seen any this large before.

Next up Lights:
In my craft room there is only a small velux window behind where I work and my craft light.  I am terrible for dropping things on the floor,  I can never find whatever has dropped when its dark or in low light, more often than not they disappear under my work table. I picked up these halogen lights for 5 euros including 3 spare bulbs and today Bob kindly fitted them onto the beam so they will shine directly on the floor, where I seem to spend an inordinate amount of time! I cannot wait to try them out!

Holgraphic card

I tend to buy up on eBay, other peoples craft clear-outs. One batch I received ages ago contained a load of holographic card. Personally I find it a bit gaudy, but also way too interesting to cover it up either. So for several months now its just been sitting in my card collection. I really have no idea what inspired me to use it for my brothers birthday card. It just popped into my head. 


In fact I enjoyed using the holo card so much, I am thinking of using it in other ways. Whether the photos show it or not it actually looks quite awesome under electric light. I am hoping that if he displays it, when he is walking past it, it will catch his eye because it really does shimmer and move.


For the back, I ended up using dies and punches. I also made an envelope...and I did not use wallpaper this time! lol.


I actually finished this card before I went into hospital, but did not have time to photograph it. I photographed it under my daylight craft lamp to try and bring out the colours and give a true-er impression of the actual holographic effect.

Thank you sooooo much everyone, for your wishes regarding my hospitalization. x x x
 Luckily, I was only in for tests this time as they are still trying to find out what is wrong with me. Today I swallowed a camera shaped like a capsule with an inbuilt flash flashing away, and a receiver strapped to my waist. Sure beats having a camera shoved into your innards on a wire whilst being out for the count!  Technology can be a wonderful thing.
I had to sit still for 8 hours, so read some new craft books on mixed media and fabric manipulation that I had just received from Amazon. Cool!

I actually took my camera with me and tried to take some 'arty' shots of objects in the room, if they are any good I might show them to you.

Anyway, back to the matter in hand......images...

I may of been grumbling yesterday about the colder mornings and evenings, but today it made 30c, so its been a day en le jardin, starting the Autumn tidy up, pulling up rubbish and cutting back flowers that have finished. Tomorrow is mowing day, could be the last (she says hopefully)
